Excerpt of Letter
Hello Maddy and the End The Exception Inside Out Organizing working group. I’ve read your notice and want to say thank you all for this important work you’re doing. I consider myself a conscious person and will work diligently to this cause, so please feel at liberty to send more data that will help me stay informed. So I'll answer the five question you included in this notice.
1) I am a library clerk here at [facility redacted] and I love the work and also Ms. [redacted] our Supervisor, we have a good team. Nonetheless the pay is an insult to me .20 cents an hr is too low, simply stated a modern slave wage.
2) Prison slavery here in Wisconsin is a masterful system of tricks and lies for the public whom views it in writing, also [facility redacted] has mostly African American officers here and this system is never fully staffed and there is always a need for a permanent Warden deputy and Warden and Security Director, food portions are incredibly small we are fed similar to middle school children.
3) America is a sick society, the fact that people are fighting to erase true history isn’t taught speaks volumes to the level of racism still alive and well. How do I feel? Not surprised at all, its the sign of systemic oppression being challenged by change. I’m feeling will I see change happening.
4) To answer the first, yes! The role I want to play is a significant one in any campaign. All the positions listed with the exception of artist. Why [illegible] healthy older [illegible] confident and this work is the kind of work I would commit time and energy to, I have personal goals along these lines.
5) [illegible] in [facility redacted] and throughout the Wisconsin system it doesn’t exist. Many do listen to the national stations such as NPR and Coast to Coast.
If you have any suggestions please advise, I love your correspondence, feel at liberty to stay in touch ok [illegible]: I’ve never visited New York but my goal is to visit the East and Brooklyn [illegible] I would like to hear the spoken word in a neighborhood cafe.
“I am a library clerk here at [facility redacted] and I love this work. Nonetheless, the pay is an insult to me, 26 cents an hour.”
